Position Paper Nuclear Agreement with Iran
Jerusalem, 16.7.2015
THE VIENNA AGREEMANT ON THE NUCLEAR PROGRAM OF IRAN
Position
The Policy Committee of the Israeli Peace NGO Forum welcomes the Vienna Agreement signed between The Islamic Republic of Iran and the P3+3 on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) addressing the Iran nuclear program, for using diplomacy rather than war as the preferred strategy for conflict resolution.
The advantages of this agreement include:
* Preventing the possibility of Iran developing nuclear weapons for 10 – 15 years, and minimizing its ability to do so afterwards;
* Integrating Iran into the global economy, thus strengthening its motivation and interest in moderating its regime;
* Providing international and pan-Arab legitimacy for integrating Iran into the struggle against the Islamic State (ISIS).
The Policy Committee of the Israeli Peace NGO Forum calls upon the government of Israel, the United States under the leadership of President Obama, the European Union, Russia, China, the UN Security Council and all of the Arab and Muslim states, to adopt a similar diplomatic approach and determined strategy towards a resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based upon the recognition of a Palestinian state along the 1967 borders and the Saudi-Arab Peace Initiative, which guarantees the normalization of Israel’s relations with all the Arab and Muslim states in the region and an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
